CUSTOMER STORY

Irish Rail:

Tadiran Telecom delivers a network of over 200 systems and sites - making it one of the largest private QSIG telephony networks in Europe.

The latest project completed for the Irish Rail is the Dublin Area Rapid Transport (DART) system and its Central Train Control (CTC) center. The DART project follows a successful relationship between Irish Rail and Tadiran in which Tadiran supplied a QSIG standard signaling protocol network of over 200 Coral IPx 500 and Coral FlexiCom PBX systems for the Irish Rail's Emergency Lineside Systems.

The overall system concept was conceived with significant design input from the Irish Rail Signaling and Telecoms Group. The DART line supports 30 stations connected to the Central Train Control Center. Thirty (30) Coral IPx 500 systems are networked to a duplicated redundant Coral FlexiCom 5000 system. The CTC, which is located in Connolly statin in Dublin, provides services to each station to support administration telephony and passenger help points including a passenger hotline and passenger booking offices.

In the near future, a redundant Coral FlexiCom 6000 system with fully duplicated fiber remote shelves will be installed to service over 1000 emergency level crossing telephones. This, as part of the Irish government's Transport 21 plan, which is designed to address Irish transportation infrastructure requirements for the 21st century.
